Mark Cuban has a habit of looking at the horizon and seeing things a bit differently than the rest of us. Recently, he shared some thoughts on where artificial intelligence is actually headed, and it is not just about chatbots or better search results. He thinks AI is going to create a level of wealth we have never seen before.
He actually suggested that the world’s first trillionaire could be just one person working alone. Usually, we think of massive companies as the ones who win in tech. You imagine huge offices and thousands of employees. But Cuban sees a future where one person with a great idea and the right AI tools can do the work of an entire corporation.
It is an interesting thought because we are still in the very early days of this technology. Right now, most of us use AI to help write an email or maybe generate a funny picture. Cuban is looking at it as a way to automate logic and decision-making on a massive scale. To him, we are in the toddler phase of AI, and we have no idea how big it will get once it grows up.
What makes this different from the early internet days is the speed. Back then, you needed a team of coders and a lot of hardware to build something global. Now, the tools are becoming so simple that the barrier to entry is basically gone. It is less about who has the most money to start and more about who knows how to talk to the machine.
Of course, it is easy to be skeptical when people start talking about trillions of dollars. We have heard big promises from tech moguls before. But if even a fraction of what he says is true, the way we think about careers and business is about to get a lot more interesting. We might be moving into an era where being small is actually an advantage.
